Personal Development Planning

Working in a dental practice can be exciting, invigorating and rewarding. At the same time very demanding as it is often a very fast paced environment. The dental industry is continually learning and there are lots of changes being made all the time. It is essential the entire dental team keeps up.

You should be looking to develop your career, further your knowledge and keep up to date with the latest techniques and technology to ensure you are working to the best of your ability. On top of this, you will increase your job prospects.

Set yourself some goals in order to plan your personal development:

  1. Set motivational goals – make sure  the goal has relevance and importance to you so that you stick to it
  2. Set SMART goals – this means ensuring your goals are; specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely
  3. Put your goals into writing or tell others about them – this can reduce your risk of giving up
  4. Don’t give up – your goals are your personal journey towards something you want to achieve. Realistically, not every goal is easy to obtain or comes without its problems. Never give up as the feeling you will get once achieving the goal will be worth it in the end
