Implant Maintenance  - Half Day Course for Hygienists & Therapists

This course is for hygienists and therapists wishing to increase their knowledge and understanding of implant maintenance. This half day implant course is ideal both for those new to working with dental implants and also for those already experienced clinicians, who want to gain a better understanding of the subject.

 This learning programme aims to develop hygienist and therapists theoretical knowledge and technical skills.

 You will learn:

  • The theory of osseo-integration and the periodontal tissue structure
  • Considerations for patient selection       
  • The aetiology of peri-implant disease
  • Baseline information to be recorded on placement
  • Probing and Implant maintenance  
  • Radiographic assessment intervals

You will gain hands-on experience in:

  • cleaning techniques with models and instrument selection 

 A total of 4 Verifiable CPD hours is be credited to this course

 

Implant Maintenance for Dental Hygienists & Therapists

     Course participants must have:

  • GDC registration or student hygienist/ therapist 
  • Non GDC registered hygienists Note: Non-GDC registered EU Hygienists will gain the Implant element of theoretical learning towards registration.
  • Students should have access to work with dental implant patients to get the most from this course.

This is a face to face teaching session with a hands on element, using models and instruments. Course materials are available to cover the essential aspects of this course. Independent research is essential to optimise your understanding and learning.

About your tutor:

Jennifer Huntley has been working with dental implants for more than 23 years at the Dawood and Tanner Specialist Practice. She has been teaching the implant maintenance course since 2016 and continues to empower and tutor hygiene therapists to expand their knowledge, confidence and develop their clinical skills. A BSDHT member since qualifying, Jenny’s course has excellent feedback both from recently qualified hygienists as well as hygienists who want to update their skills through professional development.
